We’re sometimes asked what spices are in our organic allspice blend. The answer is that allspice is actually a spice all on its own. Contrary to popular belief, allspice is not a mixed blend of different spices, rather its a dried, unripe fruit from the “Pimenta dioica” evergreen tree native to Central America and the West Indies. It was named allspice because it tastes like a combo of cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. We don’t add anything to it, because it’s beautiful in its natural state. It has a soft, sweet clove flavor and is excellent for baking, sweet dishes and savory meals too. We use it in many of our blends: Apple Pie Spice, Pumpkin Pie Spice, Ras El Hanout, Ethiopian Berbere, and Baharat to name a few. Organic Ingredients: Allspice
